Widden Primary School

Year 2

WELCOME TO YEAR 2!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the summer term in Year 2! We are excited to continue building your child’s learning, curiosity, and confidence. This term, we will focus on reading, writing, maths, and hands-on science and topic work, alongside fun creative activities like PE, art, and music. PE will take place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, so please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on those days,  ready for movement and games.

Please could you also check your child has a water bottle everyday which is named, as it is much easier to find if they lose it. Thanks

PE days are Monday and Wednesday – please make sure children have the correct kit on both days.

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day. Water only – no squash or juice. Please could you also ensure all your children's jumpers and bottles are labelled with your child's name, as it makes it easier to relocate to the correct child if they get lost in school.

Reading:

And finally, please continue to support your child’s learning by reading together regularly at home – it really does make a huge difference! Reading records are to be brought in daily. Please make sure that you are listening to your child read during the week and record this in their books.

Some of our children will still be cementing their phonics skills and if this is the case please help them out at home. If you would like some tips on how to support them with their phonics at home, please let any of the Year 2 Team know and we will happily help.
