Nursery - Summer 2 - Home and Away

This term, children will explore the exciting world of minibeasts and new environments, building confidence and independence as they prepare for the transition to the upcoming academic year. They will continue to develop their social skills through group play, practice sharing and turn-taking, and build resilience by learning that they can always try again. We will encourage children to talk about their feelings, use their words to solve disagreements, and express their imagination through role play, stories, and building activities.

Children will also investigate new materials and things in their environment, experimenting to see how things work. They will also explore shapes, numbers, and patterns, while practicing their phonics sounds and enjoying lots of early mark-making. Throughout it all, we will be supporting them to grow in confidence and make their own independent choices.

We will enjoy stories and non-fiction texts about ‘Home and Away’ as well as minibeasts and habitats, looking at books such as ‘Snail Trail’, ‘A Good Place’, ‘Rosie’s Walk’, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, ‘Walking Through the Jungle’ and more to spark imagination and discussion about different places.
